Keywords: Hello English Application, Vocabulary, Effectiveness Vocabulary is important to be used in communicating in foreign language. Vocabulary influences the student’s ability to write, read, speak and listen. Lack of vocabulary causes difficulties for students to communicate their idea both orally and written forms. Because the importance of vocabulary, it requires in teaching and learning process with a suitable media to make student interesting. The Hello English application is a media that can increase the student’s interest in learning and then it will give an effect on student learning outcomes. In this case the Hello English application is used in teaching vocabulary. From the description above, the problem formulation in this study was “Is there any significant difference in student’s vocabulary between students who are taught using the Hello English application and those who are not taught using the Hello English application?”. The purpose of this study was to determine the significant differences in student vocabulary between students who were taught using the Hello English application and those who were not taught using the Hello English application. This study used Quantitative research with a Quasi-experimental research design. The population of this research was the tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Durenan. While the sample was Class X Science 2 as an experimental class consisting of 35 students and X Science 3 as a control class consisted of 36 students. This research instrument used a vocabulary test consisted of 25 questions. The data analysis using Independent Sample T-test using SPSS 16.0. The results showed that the average value of students from the experimental class before being taught using the Hello English application was 83.60 and the average value of students after being taught using the Hello English application was 85.66. In the control class the average score of students before was 83.36 to 78.17. The average value of students in the experimental class was higher than the average value in the control class. In addition, the results of statistical calculations used the Independent Sample T-test with SPSS 16.0 show that the significant value was 0,000. The means of the significant value was smaller than the significant level (0,000 <0.05). Significant value results indicated that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. It means that there was a significant difference in the value of students' vocabulary learning taught using the Hello English application and students' vocabulary learning taught using conventional methods. In other words, the Hello English application was effectively used to teach students' vocabulary.
