Reading is one of the most important language skills. Through reading activities students can improve language, communication skills, improve vocabulary and gain knowledge. Reading is very important in promoting every human personality and nation. Based on the results of preliminary study conducted in XIth grade students of MAN 3 Tulungagung, the problems in the reading class are: students have very low vocabulary, students are not interested in reading especially those using English, most of them are bored with a monotonous way of teaching, students expect something different in reading lessons that can increase their motivation in reading. So, to achieve the target of the learning process of learning there must be an effective learning strategy that can overcome all the above problems. This study deals with the application of using comic book media to solve the problem. Comic book is a medium that will be used by researchers to improve reading comprehension of students in English. The problem formulation in this research is "1) How is the students’ scores in reading comprehension before being taught by using comic books in narrative texts?, 2) How is the students’ scores in reading comprehension after being taught by using comic books in narrative texts?, 3) Is there significant differences on the student’s reading comprehension taught before and after being taught using comic books in narrative text." The purpose of this research problem is to know significant differences on the student’s reading comprehension taught before and after being taught using comic books in narrative text in XIth MIA 1 grade students of MAN 3 Tulungagung. The method used Pre-Experimental research design. The research subject is XI MIA 1 of MAN 3 Tulungagung. Research instrument in the form of test sheet. The research procedure includes Pretest, Treatment, and posttest. The success criteria is determined by the liveliness of the students in following the lesson and can answer the questions given (multiple choice and right or wrong). The result of the use of comic book media shows that this strategy is effective for solving the reading comprehension problem. This research got 2 result value. Result 1 that is pretest, result of this research indicate that average value of students before they taught using comic book to reading comprehension of students is (67,60). Result 2 is posttest, the average score of students after they were taught using comic books on reading comprehension of students is (80,00). With such results, the use of comic book media is the strategyefektif used to solve problems in reading classes
