Keywords: Context Clue Technique, Reading Comprehension, Teaching Reading One of the techniques used in teaching reading is context clue. Context clue is a technique that guess the meaning by own word that helped by clue that provided in the texts without looks up dictionary. Context clue technique contributes to help the students reading comprehension. Difficult in vocabulary is one of the problems of students reading comprehension. Using context clue help the students to understand the texts although there are some unfamiliar words. The can underline the clue and gain the meaning by their own word to understand the texts. The formulation of research problem was are as follows: Is there any significance of the students’ reading comprehension who being taught by using and without using context clue technique?. Based on the formulation of research problem, the purpose of this research was to: determine whether there is significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension who being taught by using and without using context clue technique. Research method: 1) the research design in this research was quasi experimental design with quantitative approach. 2) the population of this research was the tenth grade of the students at MA Syekh Subakir Nglegok which consist of (X-A and X-B class). 3) the sample was both of X-A and X-B MA Syekh Subakir consist of 61 students. 4) the research instrument was test, interview and class observation. 5) the data analysis was using T-test. The result showed that the students mean score of control group on pre-test was 66.32 and post-test was 68.52. While the students mean score of experimental group on pre-test was 68.80 and score of post-test was 75.33. In addition, the result of statistical computation used T-test with SPSS 16.0 showed that the significant value is 0.000. It means that result of significant value indicate that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that there is significant difference of the students’ reading comprehension who being taught by using context clue technique at MA Syekh Subakir. Context clue technique is effective and suggested to be used to teach reading, because helps the students to understand the text easier when they do not know the meaning of word. This technique is effective to teaching reading.
