English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor : Dr. Arina Shofiya, M.Pd. Keyword : Speaking Ability, Dubbing Strategy, Animated Movies Learning vocabulary is likely to be one of the biggest challenges that student will face in their studies. For Indonesian students, they have to study English language as the foreign language. Thus, English is the main subject in curriculum which should be learnt from secondary level up to university. Although in general, English is still considered as a difficult subject for the students because it is completely different from Indonesian language in the system of structure, pronounciation and vocabulary. The general objective of this study is to find out the effectiveness of using dubbing movie strategy in teaching speaking. The research problem is (1)“Is it effective to use dubbing strategy to improve students’ speaking ability?”. The research objectives is (1) “to find out the effectiveness of using dubbing movie strategy in teaching speaking.” Method of research used quasi experimental research with quantitative approach.. Population and sample was the second grade IPS at MA At-Thohiriyah Tulungagung, that contains 43 children. This study used quasi experimental design in the form of two group pre-test-post-test design with quantitative approach. Data analysis of this research was using independent sample T test with SPSS 16.0 After doing the analysis by using SPSS then concluded that the value of Significance of t is 0.000 smaller than 0.05 then means H0 rejected automatically H1 accepted. Tcount also has value – 11,881 which lower than ttable = -0.68024. then means H0 rejected automatically H1 accepted So the results of this study indicate that there is a significant difference between control class outcomes with treatment class outcomes. It means dubbing movie strategies on students’ speaking ability at the second grade of MA AT Tohiriyah Ngantru Tulungagung is more effective.
