Abstract

Keyword: Writing, Recount text, and Guiding Question Technique This study was designed to increasing the students’ writing ability recount text by using Guiding Question Technique. It was conducted in order to find model of teaching and learning that occurs, especially, in writing class. In this application, this study was done in cycles involved planning the action, implementing action, observing, and reflecting which we implemented in two cycles. This technique was selected by the researcher because it was believed to be able to stimulate the students to be more involved and active in writing activities and to facility the students to organize their idea in writing ability. Thus, this study was directed to solve practical problem in writing ability especially the students lack of vocabulary and grammatically in the process of teaching and learning. The research problem was formulated as follow : “How can Guiding Question can be used to Increase Second Year Students Recount Text Writing Ability at MTsN Bandung Tulungagung in the Academic Year 2011/2012 ?” This study employed collaborative classroom action research design. In which between the research the collaborator teacher as a research team worked together in designing the lesson plan, implementing the action observing the action and making reflection I each cycles. The subject of this study were the first students of F class of MTsN Bandung Tulungagung in the Academic Year 2011/2012 ?” in involved 46 students. This study was conducted in two cycle by following the procedures of the action research i.e. planning, implementing, observing, reflecting. Each cycle consisted of second meetings. The main instrument of the study was the research himself. In completing the data three instruments were used applying the following methods such providing observation sheets, making field notes, and administrating test. The data of the study were the students test result, the students and teacher performance during the process of teaching and learning which were analyzed qualitative and quantitative. The researcher determiner the criteria of succes was 70% of students score of writing test was at least 68 and the students can actively participate during the teaching learning process. The result of test showed that students score in writing recount text in preliminary test was 13 %. While students score after conduct guiding question technique in cycle 1 was 26 %. While students score after conduct guiding question technique in cycle 2 was 76 %. The result was achieve in the criteria of success was 70%. It indicated that Guiding question technique was appropriate technique and could be used for another teacher in teaching writing recount. In other word, the guiding question technique can be used as an alternative to teach writing recount text to the students at second year of junior high school level.
