Abstract

ABSTRACT Wan Khasanah Abdillah, Wan. Students registered number 2813133127. The implementation TPRC strategy for teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text at the first grade in MTsN Karangrejo. Sarjana Thesis, English education department faculty of tarbiyah and teacher training. State Islamic institute (IAIN) of tulungagung. Advisor : Muh. Basuni M.Pd Key word : the effectiveness TPRC strategy, teaching reading comprehension descriptif text. Reading and langage, noth are interviewed in teaching and practice. This has changed and evolved then there are challenges for language teacher to think, reflect, and find solution to teach language and read better. Teaching reading with a language understanding has changed the paradigm of professional language teacher, it also challenges teachers to create and implement effective learning in the classroom. One technique that teachers can use to teach reading comprehension is by applying the TPRC strategy. This is defined as a strategy that has stage in it that help students active thinking process either individually or in groups. The formulation of research question of this study is : Is TPRC strategy effective for teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text in the seventh grade at MTs Karangrejo ? The purpose of this study is to know Is TPRC strategy effective for teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text in the seventh grade at MTs Karangrejo ? Research method : 1) the research design of this study is quasi experimental. With quantitative approach. 2) the place and time of this study in MTsN Karangrejo, starting January. 3) the subjects of the study is the first graduate A class and B class. 4)the data are result values from the students. Then the data source is quotation sheet. 5) technique of data collection from try out and post test. 6)technique of data verification using technique validation of question. The result of this study, the researcher implemented TPRC strategy for teaching reading comprehension of descriptive text. She has fulfilled the teaching component using TPRC strategy and implementation steps in the TPRC strategy. According to the Non-Parametric test significant value obtained was 0,001. This shows that there is a significant difference between the control group and the experimental group in achieving post-test result. The null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (HI) is accepted. In conclusion, there is a significant difference is students reading comprehension descriptive text after being taught using TPRC strategy.
