ABSTRACT Mahmudah, Nurul. Regristasi Number Student : 2813133091. Language Styles Used By The English Teacher In Teaching and Learning in the Eighth Grade at MTsN Tulungagung. Thesis. English Education Program. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung . Advisor: Nany Soengkono M, SS, M.Pd. Keyword: Language Style, type of language style and factors influencing language style Based on the researcher’s prelimanary stydy, the succesfull learning depends on the students and the teacher, including the teacher’s language. The teacher’s language influences the students’ understanding in teaching and learning process. When the teacher uses language appropiately, it helps teaching and learning process run well. The language that used by someone is different in someways. It depends on the topic, participant, setting and the function of the language it self. The different language that teacher used is called as language style. the students will Based on explanation above, the researcher conducted a reseah the title is English Teacher’s Language Style Towards The Students’ Response to the Eighth Graders of MTsN Tulungagung by research problems are (1) What is the English teacher’s language style in teaching and learning English at eighth graders of MTsN Tulungagung (2) What are the reasons of the teacher using these language styles in teaching and learning English at eighth graders of MTsN Tulungagung The objectives of this research are (1) To know the types of language styles used by the English teacher in teaching and learning English (2) To know the English teacher’s reasons using these language stye in teaching and learning English. The research design of this research is qualitative descriptive. In this research the researcher used observation and interview as the data collection technique. The data is English Teacher’s utterance that contains of types language style and the data source is the English taeacher. After conducting the research, the researcher found four types of language style used by the teacher in teaching and learning. They are formal, consultative, casual and intimate style. the reasons of using these langauge style in order to create students condirtion enjoy during teaching and learning process and easy to understand about the teacher’s explanation. So, the process of teaching and learning activity will success and run well.
