Keywords: effectiveness, vocabulary, word wall English is one of foreign language which is learned in Indonesian. As foreign language, it has many problems faced by Indonesian students, especially learning vocabulary. They felt bored and are not interested in following English class, because teacher teaches vocabulary by repeating the word and uses the same strategy in every meeting. By learning vocabulary, learners will be able to communicate in English. One of the media used in teaching vocabulary is word wall media. Word wall is collection of words which are displayed in large visible letters on a wall, bulletin board, or blackboard in a classroom. The word wall is designed to be a interactive tool for students or others to use, and contains an array of words that can be used to effectiveness the students vocabulary mastery. The formulation of the research problems were: 1) How is the students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery before being taught using “Word Wall” media? 2) How is the students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery after being taught using “Word Wall” media? 3) Is there any significant difference in students’ achievement vocabulary mastery before and after being taught using “Word Wall” media? The objectives of the research were: 1) to know the students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery before being taught using “Word Wall” media. 2) to know the students’ achievement in vocabulary mastery after being taught using “Word Wall” media. 3) to know whether there is significant difference in students’ achievement vocabulary mastery before being taught using “Word Wall” media. This research is experimental design with quantitative approach. In this study the research design used by the researcher is pre-experimental design in the form of one-group pre-test and post-test. The population of this study was all students of eight grade students of MTs Negeri Bandung. The sample of VIII-I class of MTs Negeri Bandung which consist of 46 students. The instruments used in this research were vocabulary test (pre-test and post-test). The data analysis was using t-test. The research findings in this research are the scores of vocabulary before being taught by using Word Wall and after being taught by using Word Wall. The results showed that the mean of total scores of students’ vocabulary achievement before being taught using word wall is 16,5. While the mean of total scores of students’ vocabulary achievement after they are taught using word wall is 21,13. It was proved with t-test analysis that used by the researcher can be shown the result tcount = 12,657. The value of “t” on the t score table t 5% =1,679. So, it is known that tcount is bigger than ttable (tcount > ttable) = (12,657 > 1,679). Based on the result above, alternative hypothesis (Ha) states there is significant different score of student’s vocabulary achievement by using word wall media is accepted, while the null hypothesis (H0) that states there is no significant different score of student’s vocabulary achievement is rejected. Finally, it can be concluded that word wall media is effective media in teaching English vocabulary to Junior high school, especially for eight grade students of MTs Negeri Bandung.
