Writing skill as one of the important skills in English Learning must be mastered by the students. Writing is focus on how to produce language rather than receive. As writing has purpose to communicate the writers’ idea, thought, and feeling through the written language form. There are many problem faced, and one of them is organization of thoughts and idea. It was because writing is too complex and sometimes difficult to teach. The students need time to learn it every step in writing. It one of caused the students have low score. Besides that, each student in the class entered with different ability backgrounds (skills, gender, religion, knowledge and so on) so that the ability of the students in mastering the lesson is not the same as well, especially in writing. Based on interview, the researcher found, all of the writing requirement could not be mastered at all for most students in eight grade at MTsN Langkapan. Therefore, why the researcher should teach using the new strategy to make the students easy to understand the material and can organize their idea into written form until they got improvement in their achievement. There are many strategies that can be used in teaching writing. One of them is Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) Strategy. In this study, each student in group made a story by themselves. After that, they did the discussion in a group and give some exercise to did together. Therefore, this strategy can make students more active and make the teaching and learning be fun, not monotonous, and can help the students to improve their achievement in writing recount text. The purpose of this research was intended to improve the students’ ability in writing recount text by using Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) Strategy. This teaching aim is selected to improve the students’ score in writing recount text. The problem of the study is: how can Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) strategy improve the students’ achievement in writing recount text? The type of the research is a Class Action Research (CAR) was done collaboratively and implemented in two cycle has four stage : (1) planning (2) implementing, (3) observing and (4) reflecting. The subjects of this study were the eight year students of MTsN Langkapan in academic year 2015/2016. It consists of 32 students. This study was conducted in two cycles, each of cycle comprises in four meetings. The result of this study was successful because the students could write recount text better and they have improvement in their achievement after using Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) as the strategy. It can be seen from the data of students score. In the preliminary study, students who could pass the test is 6,25% of the students or only 2 students. On the cycle I, students who passed the test is 71.87 % of the students or 23 students. It means that the percentage of success has not achieved yet. Researcher continued to the next cycle and the result of the cycle is 98.87% of students or 31 students, of students could pass the test. It indicates that the criterion of success which 85% of students could pass the test was achieved on the cycle II. The result of the study indicates that using Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) can improve students’ achievement in writing recount text. It can also make students to be active in the classroom. They can talk and discuss their works with their own group during the learning process. The English teacher was agreed and gratefully to use this strategy to improve the students’ achievement in writing recount text because it gave many advantages both students and the teacher during the learning process in the classroom. It enriched the English teacher’s experience in conducting teaching and learning English. Based on the result of the study above, it could be concluded that the implementation of Team Assisted individualization (TAI) strategy was successful in the research, it could be an alternative strategy to improve students’ achievement and students’ active in teaching learning process. By applying this strategy it is expected to English teacher in using Team Assisted individualization (TAI) strategy. In order to make students easier in writing and mastered the material.
