The Effectiveness of Using Dictogloss Technique Toward the Students’ Listening Comprehension Achievement at the Eighth Grade of SMPN 1 Rejotangan in Academic Year 2015/2016. Thesis. Keyword: effectiveness, dictogloss technique, listening comprehension achievement Listening is basic skill in language learning process. It means that teaching and learning listening has an important role to understand a foreign language. In teaching listening comprehension there are many kinds of techniques that can be used. One of them is Dictogloss technique. Dictogloss is a new way of dictation. In this technique students listen to a recorder, note down key words and then work together to create a reconstructed version of the text. The formulated of research problems were: 1) How is the students’ listening comprehension achievement before being taught by using dictogloss technique? 2) How is the students’ listening comprehension achievement after being taught by using dictogloss technique? 3) Is there any significant difference score between the students’ listening comprehension before and after being taught by using dictogloss technique? The purposes of this study were to: 1) To find out the students’ listening comprehension achievement before being taught by using dictogloss technique. 2) To find out the students’ listening comprehension achievement after being taught by using dictogloss technique. 3) To find out the significant different score between the students’ listening comprehension achievement before and after being taught by using dictogloss technique. Research method used by writer was pre-experimental design with quantitative approach by using One Group Pretest-Posttest. The population of this research was all students of eighth grades of SMPN 1 Rejotangan in Academic Year 2015/2016. The sample was VIII A class consisting of 29 students. The research instrument was test. The data analysis was using T-test through SPSS 16.00. The result of data analysis showed that the mean of students’ listening comprehension achievement scores before being taught by using dictogloss technique is 57.24. While, the mean of students’ listening comprehension achievement scores after being taught by using dictogloss technique is 75.52. The statistical analysis using SPSS 16.00 showed that the value of tcount is -6.110 and significance value is 0.00. The value of ttable with significant level (α) 5% was 2.048. it means that tcount is higher than ttable (-6.110>2.048) and the significance value is lower than 0.05 (0.00<0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that alternative hypothesis (Ha) which states there is significant different score of students’ listening comprehension achievement before and after being taught by using dictogloss technique at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Rejotangan is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) which states there is no significant difference score of students’ listening comprehension achievement before and after being taught by using dictogloss technique at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Rejotangan is rejected. It means that dictogloss technique is effective toward students’ listening comprehensive achievement at the eighth grade of SMPN 1 Rejotangan and it can be used as an alternative technique to teaching listening comprehension.
