Abstract

ABSTRACT Mohammad Khadziqun Nuha, Registered Student: 2841134013. 2015. Character Education Management to Increase Students’ Religiosity (A Multi Case Study at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung). Thesis. Islamic Education Management Program. Magister Program. State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisors: 1) Dr. Maftukhin, M. Ag; 2) Dr. Susanto, S. S, M. Pd. Key words : Character education, character education management, students’ religiosity. In the era of globalization like today, community especially those who live in a development country such as Indonesia, are faced with a condition which is completely modern but risky to the degradation of moral value. Character education is essentially aimed at shaping the nation's tough, competitive, high morals, tolerant, worked together, patriotic spirit, developing a dynamic, oriented science and technology which are all inspired by faith and piety to God Almighty based on Pancasila. Looking at how noble these goals of education are, school, as a party which has a full responsibility in implementing the educational process, has to have a strong eagerness and commitment to make these goals come true. School has to work hard and give its full concentration to bring these goals into reality by maximizing all of its strengths and totally minimizing its weaknesses. That is why, scholl needs to conduct a character education management to reach the national educational goals and its institutional goals. The focus of the research were : (1) How is the planning of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung? (2) How is the organizing of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung? (3) How is the actuating of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity on MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung? (4) How is the controling of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung? The purpose of this research were to find out: (1) How the planning of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung is (2) How the organizing of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung is (3) How the actuating of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity on MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung is (4) How the controling of character education management in increasing students’ religiosity at MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung is. Research method used were: (1) The research approach of this study was descriptive qualitative with the field research design by using multi-site setting, (2) The preserence of researcher in the field of study was a must and the researcher functioned as the key instrument in collecting the data, (3) The setting of the study were MAN 2 Tulungagung and MA Darul Hikmah Tawangsari Tulungagung, (4) The source of data of the study were devided into two; human and nonhuman source of data. The former functioned as a the informant whom the researcher used to dig the information. While, the latter was in the form of documents that were relevant to the research focus such as images, photographs, note or writing, (5) To collect the data, the researcher used participant observation, interview, and documentation, (6) To analyze the data, the researcher analyzed the data inductively through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion, (7) To check the data validity the researcher lengthened the time period of the study, did triangulation, gathered many references, looked at any suspected data to be verified, and did member check. The result showed that both school did the character education management through; (1) planning a character education management, (2) organizing a character education management, (3) actuating a character education management, and (4) controlling a character education management. To build up a character education management planning through (1) developing the school vision and mission, (2) analyzing the internal and external environment, (3) developing a broad strategy, and (4) deciding the prime strategy. Meanwhile, the organizing of character education management, the schools did the following key success; (1) organized the school structure as good as possible, and (2) did the effective leadership. For actuating a character education management used; (1) built up the school culture and (2) focused on the clients that is built up the students’ cognitive, affective and psychomotor in a balanced. Finally to controlling a character education management could be built up by conducting (1) future planning, (2) creating teamwork, and (3) building up the motivation.
