State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor: Dr. Muh. Basuni, M.Pd. Keywords: Language Style, Types, Movie. Language style has an important function in communication. Language styles have many types where each type of language style has different characteristics. This language style can also be analyzed from many aspects such as in a novel, advertising, newspaper, magazine, or film. Language style always accompanies humans in communicating. Therefore, Ducrot & Todorov (1993) stated that language style is several options that can be used in communication. Language style also learns how to use language in communicating with different expressions and uses different language styles so that the information and communication that is carried out will run well. The formulating of the research question of this thesis; (1) What are types of language st yle used in “ Mulan” movie based on Martin Joss (2007) and Mandel and Kiszner (2003) This study was conducted by using a library research design with a qualitative approach. The technique of data collection is user documentation. Then, the data verification is using triangulation. The findings of this study show; (1) there are five language styles used in the Mulan movie. There is frozen, formal, consultative, casual, and colloquial style. Frozen style, there are 27 sentences in the conversation that indicates frozen style. There are 116 sentences in the conversation that shows a formal style. There are 53 sentences in the conversation that show a consultative style. There is 73 sentence in the conversation that shows a casual style. And there are 46 sentences in conversation that show colloquial style. The characteristic of the frozen style is used the symbolic and formal situation and the figure who uses this language is an important or respected figure. The characteristic that exists in the formal style is that is used in a formal meeting and the pronunciation is clear. After that, the characters used in the consultative style are used in conversation with families. The characteristic used in the casual style is the language style that is often used between friends and uses jokes. Finally, the characters found in colloquial style is to use simple sentences and constructions.
