Keywords: Remote learning anxiety, causes, strategy Anxiety has become one of the factors that affect student achievement and learning. Students with high levels of anxiety will not be able to demonstrate their ability in remote learning satisfactorily. As a result, anxious students usually face very difficult circumstances when attending classes. Not all students have the same causes of remote learning anxiety, but some have different reasons for what makes them anxious. Therefore, several strategies were used to reduce their anxiety during remote learning. So that students can enjoy remote learning. Based on the case above, the research problem that arises is what are the causes of the students’ anxiety when learning English remotely? And how do students at MTs Sultanagung Jabalsari reduce their anxiety when learning English remotely? The research method used is a qualitative approach. The subjects in this study were the sixth (2 students were afraid and 4 students were nervous) from the students at MTs Sultanagung Jabalsari. They were selected based on the resultsof recommendations from the teachers who showed that they met the criteria of the students most indicated for remote learning anxiety. The data from this study were taken from student statements containing the causes of anxiety in remote learning and strategies to reduce the anxiety experienced by students when doing remote learning. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with selected subjects. The collected data was then recorded, selected, and focused on data related to the research focus. The data that has been selected is then analyzed using Miles and Huberman's (1992) theory. The results of this study suggest the causes of anxiety in remote learning are classified as internal factors (students), and external factors (teacher's way of teaching, learning materials, learning media). Meanwhile, the strategies used by students to reduce anxiety in remote learning are relaxation, preparation, openinga dictionary, skipping difficult points, peer seeking. In addition, one of new strategy that found by the researcher to minimize anxiety was self-entertainment. It can also be use as a support strategy from previous study.
