English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor : Dr.Erna Iftanti, S.S., M,Pd. Keywords: effectivenes, Youtube Video, teaching descriptive writing text One of the language skills that play the most important role in communication is writing, because it can produce something that is an expression of idea. Somebody can know the other’s ideas if they express their ideas in writing. Therefore, writing is also one of instruments from which the people express the ideas and share it with others. In teaching learning process, the teacher needs media to convey the material easier especially in writing. One of the media that can make students to be more interested in learning English is using Youtube Video. The research question of this study is “Is there any significant difference on students' writing descriptive achievement between the students who use Youtube Video and Use Conventional strategy?”. The purpose of the research is to know the effectiveness of Youtube video in teaching writing of descriptive text. This study was done to verify whether or not Youtube Video was effective medium to improve students’ writing descriptive text. This study used quasi-experimental design which belonged to quantitative approach by using two group pre-test and post-test. The population of this study was 10th grade students of SMAN 1 Tulungagung in academic year 2019/2020. The sample of the study was X IPA 2 and X IPA 3 which are consisted of 67 students and it was selected by purposive sampling technique The Research instrument is test on writing descriptive text. The data were collected through administering computing statistical in the form of independent T-test by using spss 16.0 for windows. The mean scores of post test in experimental class was 20.61. Meanwhile, the mean score of post test in control class was 17.71. The result of t-test showed that Sig value was 0.000. Given that the current test was one-tailed test, so the Sig value 0.000 be divided by 2 (0.000 : 2 = 0). It means that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted because 0 < 0.05 (0 is smaller than 0.05). In other hand, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) saying that there was significant difference score in students’ writing skill on descriptive text taught by using Youtube Video The finding verified that Youtube Video was effective to be used for tenth grade students in teaching writing descriptive text at SMAN 1 Tulungagung. The result of this research indicates that there is significant difference scores on students’ writing achievement especially descriptive text between the students’ who taugt by using Youtube Video as Media and the students who taught conventional method.
