ABSTRACT Yunita, Risma . NIM. 17203153050. 2020. The Effectiveness of Clustering Technique Towards Students’ Writing Ability in Recount Text in Grade of Eight at MTsN 2 Blitar. Thesis. English Education Department Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training State Islamic Institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor : Dr.H. Nursamsu,S.Pd.I,M.Pd. Keywords : Effectiveness , Clustering Technique, Writing Ability. Writing is a essential ability or skill that students should be mastery. Through writing, they can sharing their idea, opinion, feeling, information, and knowledge. Writing is one of the indicator to measure the students psycomotoric improvement too. As a educator, the teacher should be creative in finding fun method or strategy teaching writing in order to increase students’ writing understanding and achievement. Therefore , clustering technique is one of strategy which can be used solving poblems in teaching learning of writing. The formulation of this research was” is the clustering technique effective toward students’ ability in writing recount text in grade of eighth at MTsN 2 Blitar? The research design of this study was quasi experimental design with quantitave approach. The population was the eighth grade students at MTsN 2 Blitar. The number of population was 288. In taking the sample , the researcher used purposive sampling. VIII C class was choosen as a control group consisted of 34 students and VIII E class as an Experimental Group consisted of 32 students. The data were gathered through test were divided to pre-test and post￾test. The data analysis was using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) 16.00 and Manually . The result showed that by doing clustering technique is not effective for the students writing ability in recount text of eighth grade at MTsn 2 Blitar. It can be seen from the calciulation of to and tt . to is 1,8. Meanwhile tt is 2.00. It means to is lower than tt.. So , alternative hypothesis is rejected and null hypothesis is accepted.
