English Education Department. Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic institute (IAIN) of Tulungagung. Advisor Dr. Nurul Chojimah, M. Pd. Keyword: Teacher‟s Strategies, Teaching Vocabulary, Covid-19 Pandemic Vocabulary is the center of study while the students want to learn English because English being their second language. The students can dominate the English skill without knowing Grammar but they cannot understand anything without vocabulary. The teacher must have appropriate and innovative strategies in teaching vocabulary. Teacher‟s effective strategies will support the students in mastering in every skills and component of language. Moreover in Covid-19 pandemic condition, the learning process must be done at home via online because the government required doing physical distancing. So that the teacher must have good strategies to make the students can understand the lesson easily and still can increase their vocabulary at home. The statements of the research problem in this study are: (1) What strategies which are used by the teacher in teaching vocabulary during Covid-19? (2) How are the students‟ responses toward the teachers‟ strategies in teaching vocabulary during Covid-19 Pandemic? The purposes of this study are: (1) To describe the strategies those are used by the teacher in teaching vocabulary during Covid-19. (2) To describe the students‟ responses toward the teachers‟ strategies in teaching vocabulary during Covid-19 Pandemic. The research method of this study used descriptive design with qualitative as research design. The researcher collected the data by conducting online interview by using Google Form. The data sources of this research were the English teacher of MTsN 8 Tulungagung and 7th and 8th students. Research Participants of this study was chose by using purposive as the sample technique. In this study used triangulation as the technique of data verification. The data were analyzed by Organizing and Familiarizing, Coding and Reducing and Interpreting and Representing. The site of this research was in MTsN 8 Tulungagung. This school is located on Masjid Street 8A Sumberdadap Pucanglaban Tulungagung. The result of this research showed that the strategies in teaching vocabulary which are used by the teacher during Covid-19 are by using dictionary, video, reading text and showing picture. It can be said that the teachers used Grammar Translated Method in implementing those strategies. The strategies are used to increase students‟ vocabulary and to help the teacher to convey material and the duty easily. The students‟ responses indicate the students feel that the teacher strategies are interesting. Beside that they have positive and negative responses toward the strategies because the students feel that there is the easiness and the difficulties during the teacher implemented those strategies.
