Abstract

The Effectiveness Of Using Demonstration Method On Student`s Achievement in Writing Procedure Text Of Eight Grade Students At MTs Negeri 8 Tulungagung. Thesis. English Education Department. Faculty Of Education And Teacher Training. State Islamic Institut (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Nany Soengkono Madayani, S.S., M.Pd Keywords: Demonstration Method, Writing, Procedure text, Effectiveness Demonstration Method as the teaching method teach the students by demonstrating goods, events, either directly or through the use of teaching aids relevant to the subject matter or material being presented. In this case demonstration method used to made students easy to understand about writing procedure text. The formulation of the research problem is: 1) Is there any significant difference before and after being taught by using demonstration method ? The purpose of the research is: 1) To find out the significant difference of students’ writing procedure text before and after being taught by using demonstration method. Research method: 1) The research design is pre- experimental one-group pretest posttest design using quantitative approach, 2) The population of this study are all students of the eighth grade at MTs Negeri 8 Tulungagung that consist of 136 students, 3) The sample is students of VIII Exellen class consist 32 students, 4) The research instrument is test, 5) The technique of data analysis is T-test. T-test is used to know whether Ha is accepted or rejected. The result shows that the total of student’s score before being taught using demonstration method are 1790, while the total score after being taught by demonstration method are 2105. T-score was 9.993, with the df = 31, The correlation scores of pre-test and post-test was 0.880 and significance value was 0.000. It shows that sig.value was smaller than 0.05 (0.00<0.05), so the null hypothesis was rejected. In other word, the hypothesis said that the mean of the pre-test was smaller than or equal to the mean of the post-test was rejected. It automatically accepted the alternative hypothesis saying that the mean of post-test was higher than the mean of pre-test. It means that there was significance different before and after being taught using demonstration method. In other words demonstration method is effective used as an alternative strategy for teaching writing procedure text to the students of MTs Negeri 8 Tulungagung.
