Keywords: cohesion, grammatical cohesive devices, The Jakarta Globe Newspaper is one of the media that is often used by every individual in obtaining various information both domestically and aboard. At this time, people can consume news anywhere and anytime easily by digital forms or online. A newspaper article should provide an objective, factual event, person, or place. Newspaper have their on specific discourse in order to make the readers understand the content. Discourse analysis is academic discipline which studies about how language is used in the real situation or condition. Cohesion can be used in order to create the connection between sentences. An article will be understandable because it is considered a piece of entertainment news and information relevant that attracts the readers’ desire wrote by using grammatical sentence. Research problem of this study were: 1) What kinds of grammatical cohesive devices are found in the headline news on the Jakarta Globe period June 2019? 2) What is the dominant grammatical cohesive dvices in the headline news on the Jakarta Globe period June 2019?. While the objective of this research were (1)to find out the kinds of grammatical cohesive devices in the headline news on the Jakarta Globe period June 2019. (2) to investigate the dominant grammatical cohesive devices in the headline news on the Jakarta Globe period June 2019. This research used quantitative approach with descriptive design. The data source in this research is selected narrative text from the Jakarta Globe period June 2019. To analyze data the researcher did some steps. They are (1) tabulating the data, (2) counting the percentage, (3) Interpreting the result, (4) drawing conclusion. The result of this research that there were 751 grammatical cohesive devices used in twenty-eight articles of headline news on the Jakarta Globe period June 2019. The findings of grammatical cohesive devices include 62,45% or 469 were the use of reference, 5,6% or 42 were the use of subtitutions, 31,95% or 240 were the use of conjunctions, and the last is 0 use of ellipsis. In conclusion, the dominant grammatical cohesive devices from the data that found in the headline news articles on the Jakarta Globe is reference. It is occurred because the writers of news would like to keep the identity of ideas and participants in text to make their news clearly and easy to understand.
