Keywords: Textbook, 2013 Curriculum, Tomlinson’s theory, Think Globally Act Locally In education, curriculum is one of the crucial components in an educational system. The aim of education can be achieved through a well-planned educational curriculum. The 2013 Curriculum is the latest curriculum in Indonesia. It is has been implemented since the 2013/2014 academic year. The implementation of the 2013 Curriculum itself cannot be separated from innovation. One of the products of innovation in the 2013 Curriculum is the textbook. The revision of the textbook always be done periodically to get the more qualified and standardized textbook. “Think Globally Act Locally” for grade IX is one of the revised textbook in the 2013 Curriculum. For the reason that this textbook is used as the main textbook recommended by the government, thus it is required to have compatibility to the 2013 Curriculum and have standardized materials. The formulation of the research problems in this research were: 1) How is the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “Think Globally Act Locally” for grade IX (The Revised Edition 2018) based on the core and basic competence of the 2013 Curriculum?, 2) How is the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “Think Globally Act Locally” for grade IX (The Revised Edition 2018) based on the Tomlinson’s theory of material evaluation? The purpose of this research were: 1) To elaborate the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “Think Globally Act Locally” for grade IX (The Revised Edition 2018) based on the core and basic competence of 2013 Curriculum, 2) To investigate the relevance of the materials in English Textbook “Think Globally Act Locally” for grade IX (The Revised Edition 2018) based on the Tomlinson’s theory of material evaluation. Research Method: 1) The research designs in this research were qualitative research in the form of content analysis, 2) The data and data sources, the data were the words, texts and pictures as outlined in the English textbook “Think Globally Act Locally” for Grade IX (The Revised Edition 2018). The textbook also as the primary source, 3) The data collection in this study was documentation, 4) The main instrument in this study was checklist, 5) The trustworthiness of the data were checked by using theoritical triangulation and code-recode strategy, 6) The data analysis and interpretation were using data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The result showed that the English textbook “Think Globally Act Locally” for grade IX (The Revised Edition 2018) fulfilled 21 from 25 indicators or 84% of cognitive aspect (basic competence three), 29 from 34 indicators or 85% of psychomotor aspect (basic competence four), and 14 from 16 criteria or 87.5% of Tomlinson’s theory of material evaluation. This means that most of the materials were relevant to the Basic and Core Competence in the 2013 Curriculum and fulfilled the criteria of good textbook by Tomlinson’s theory.
