Keyword: Effect, Teaching Reading Comprehension, PLAN strategy In daily classroom activity, many students find difficulty in understanding the sentence especially in reading foreign language. They can read the sentence but they do not understand what the sentence in such kind of the text. Some of them cannot read it correctly whether in spoken or written form. They are also lack in vocabulary. As an English teacher, the teacher have to be able to find an effective strategy or technique in teaching English especially in reading comprehension. So, the researcher is interested to find out the strategy in teaching reading comprehension. One of the strategy used in teaching reading comprehension of explanation text is using PLAN strategy on students’ reading comprehension of second grade students at MA Darul Huda WonodadiBlitar in the academic 2018/2019. The formulation of research problem is: “Is there any significant effect of using Predict, Locate, Add, and Note (PLAN) strategy in teaching reading comprehension of explanation text to second grade of MA Darul Huda WonodadiBlitar?”. The objective of this research is to find out the effect of using Predict, Locate, Add, and Note (PLAN) strategy in teaching reading comprehension ofexplanation text to second grade of MA Darul Huda WonodadiBlitar. The research design of this research used Quasi Experimental design with nonrandomized control group pretest–posttest design. The population of this research were all students of the second grade of MA Darul Huda WonodadiBlitar in the academic year 2018/2019. The sample was XI MIA class which consist of 19 students and XI IIS class which consist of 18 students. The researcher used test as an instrument of this research. The data analysis used independent sample T-Test. After giving the treatment the students’ score are increased significantly. It can be seen from the result of computation show that the students’ mean score before being taught using PLAN strategy is 78.89. While after being taught using PLAN strategy is 80.00. The significant value is 0.000 smaller than 0.05. So, the null hypothesis was rejected. It means that there is significant effect of using PLAN strategy on students’ reading comprehension of second grade students at MA Darul Huda WonodadiBlitar. Thus, it can be stated that PLAN strategy is effective to teach reading comprehension in such kind of text especially in explanation text. The students was motivated in learning. The students also was not feel bored in learning activity. By using this strategy, the students able to understand the text ever they can predicting and summarizing easily.
