Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training. State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Tulungagung. Advisor: Nany Soengkono Madayani, SS, M.Pd. Keywords: Talk Show Technique, Speaking In the mastery of English, there are several skills that must be learned by the students. One is speaking skills. Speaking is deemed to be most important in learning a second or foreign language because speaking is one of the keys in English communication. Speaking in the class also has some problems. The use of Talk Show Technique can be alternative to solve some problems in speaking and makes speaking easier to do. In this technique, students are divided into several groups. Each member in group has their own job. One as host who will ask the other member called informant and for other groups as audiences. All students in the class must be more active while speaking. The problem formulation in this research is: Is there any significant difference on students’ achievement in speaking ability those taught by applying and without taught by applying talk show technique? The research aims is to measure the effectiveness of using Talk Show Technique in teaching speaking. It was conducted at MTsN 1 Blitar as research subject. The subject of this study amounted to 383 students of class VII. In this research, the researcher used a quantitative approach to find out the answers from research. Technique of data collection used tests. The design of the research was quasi experimental design. The sample determination used purposive sampling. There were two classes in this research, VII C as experimental group with 40 students and VII B as control group with 39 students. The researcher provides pretest and posttest for both groups. The result of this research indicated that the mean score of the students in the experimental group was 82.34, while the mean score of the students in the control group was 74.68. The researcher used t-test calculations with SPSS 22.0 version to measure hypothesis testing. The result of t-test calculation showed that Sig (2-Tailed) value was less than 0.05 significance level, which was 0.000 < 0.05. It means that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It can be concluded that the students of the first grade at MTsN 1 Blitar have better score taught by using Talk Show Technique in speaking than those students who taught speaking without using Talk Show Technique. It is simply concluded that the Talk Show Technique is effective to teaching speaking in the students of Junior High School.
